What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob You've lost your Nissan key fob or the device stopped working. Before you panic or contact the dealer, look back and check the last place you had it. It's not difficult to change the battery on your Nissan key fob. You'll soon get the hang out of it. Smart Keys The key fob that came with the key fob that came with your Nissan is a crucial element of the car's modern keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronic system to open doors or start the engine and it features a convenient design that is easy to keep on hand. Key fobs also come with convenience features like locking out protection that ensures you won't leave the vehicle with the keys inside. Smart keys are wireless unlike the previous models which required you to insert the key into an ignition slot in order to access your vehicle's internal systems. When you approach the vehicle the Nissan senses the Intelligent Key fob's proximity to it and activates its internal functions. This could mean opening and locking the doors, lowering or raising the tailgate and even starting up the engine. Certain smart key models come with an invisible valet key made of metal. The KeyLab can be removed from a release located on the side of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox prior to giving it to a valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket which can be used to charge the battery when it is not in use. You may have to replace the batteries on your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it's not working as it should. Most fobs have CR2025 or CR2032 batteries. Instructions to change the batteries are available in your owner's manual. Intelligent Key Fob With the Nissan Intelligent Key Fob, you can open your car's doors and begin its engine with a click of an button. You can also select a collection of presets that meet your needs, like altering the mirrors or seat to ensure maximum comfort. You can even control the music through your smartphone, meaning you don't have to leave your vehicle. Intelligent Key Fobs include an antenna that transmits the signal to your vehicle whenever you touch a button or move towards it. When the vehicle receives this signal, the system is activated to unlock and lock doors, starting up the engine, or opening the trunk. To test the fob out take a step back from your vehicle and press on the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn sounds it means you've successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob. Like all remotes, Intelligent Key fobs require batteries in order to function. Our Parts Department will help you quickly and easily replace it if it runs out of batteries. To do this, you must remove the key from its hidden compartment and then open the battery compartment of your key fob. Replace the battery with a brand new one after taking out the old one. Assure that the positive side of the new battery is facing in the same direction it did with the previous one. Finally, close the battery compartment and return the hidden key to its concealed location within the case. Remote Start Nissan remote start is a feature that allows drivers to cool or warm their vehicle from outside of the vehicle, as long as they are within the operating range. The ignition in the car is activated when a driver presses an appropriate button on the key fob or smartphone app. The remote start system may also engage climate control, allowing the driver to set their preferred temperature. Some systems include two-way communication which allows the driver know what's happening inside their vehicle. If your car's remote start function isn't working, the most common reason is a low battery. The key fob is powered by a tiny battery that can be replaced. It lasts about two years. Changing the battery is an easy task, but you'll need to know where of the key hidden on your Intelligent Key fob and how to access the battery compartment. Flip your fob inwards, and press the hidden latch on the backside of the keypad. Once the keypad has been opened remove the batteries and replace them with new ones. Be sure that the new battery matches the dimensions and configuration of the old one. Be sure to install the key that was hidden and reassemble the key fob correctly before closing the case. A special module within the power control unit watches for the activity of the impedance relay and then turns off the output. This feature is accessible on vehicles equipped with the Smart Key system, or through the vehicle's personalization menu. Many serious accidents have happened because a machine was started when it should have been completely turned off to prevent maintenance or repair. These accidents are usually caused by energy that has not been released correctly. Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) is a method to ensure that machines are completely off until a person with authorization releases them, helps prevent these accidents. The LOTO system is made up of a variety of locks, tags, and other devices that are used to secure, isolate the machine from electricity. All “affected”, “authorized” and “qualified” personnel must be instructed in the use of lockout and tagout devices. These devices include, but are not only restricted to chains, locks and padlocks. Each device is identified and labeled, including the date and the time it was put in use, the name and title of the person who is authorized, and the purpose of the lockout or tagout (repairs, maintenance and so on.). It must be clear that these devices are not able to be removed until a complete LOTO procedure has been completed.
